I’ve been hearing this time and time again over the last couple of years, “I never print my photos and the CD of images is just sitting in a drawer!” or “I have a vision of making this great wall of family pictures, but I just never do it!” Does any of this sound familiar?
This is a big problem for many families and you may find yourself in this same boat. I know I personally am pretty guilty of this with my own family photos. My 2016 goal is to make an album for each year since my kids were born. A pretty daunting task. What do you plan to do with all the years of photos piling on your computer?
Unfortunately this issue is not going to get any better as we are settling in with our smartphones for the long haul and relying on Facebook to store out visual history. To make things even more challenging, CD’s and DVDs are becoming obselete just as VHS cassettes became. If we don’t transfer all of those digital files to another media, they will be very difficult to access and will also be at risk of corruption. Oh man, now I’m starting to panic!!
As we’ve rolled into 2016 and as I set personal goals for my family pictures, I realize that I’ve got the solution for families right in front of me and I need to be talking about it more!!! The design consultation and framing services I offer with my Signature Sessions is something that every family should take advantage of when hiring a professional photographer. You should expect to be guided on the very important decision on how to preserve your precious family portraits, not just handed a DVD to print yourself or stuff in a drawer.
In 2016, EVERY custom Signature Session follows up with an in-person design and ordering consultation, preferably in your home (then we can measure your walls and match frame mouldings)! This has become one of my favorite parts of the Signature Session process. This is where I get to help you carry out your vision for how you’d like your portraits to live on in your families for generations. For returning families, we are often revisiting the gallery we started the previous year and seeing how we can grow it or swap out images.
At the end of the experience, you will walk away with art ready to hang on your walls or a keepsake album to present on your coffee table. In doing this over the last years, I’ve found that families are MUCH more satisfied with their overall experience and the end result. And as a professional, I feel like I’m delivering the best service and experience I possibly can, by ensuring you are completely taken care of when it comes to the preservation of your memories.
To top it off, you are left with nothing else to do, but to stand back and enjoy looking at the artwork of your family on the walls (and breathe a sigh of relief).

Due to the custom and personalized nature of this service, of course more time is involved! Therefore, I will only be taking a limited number of Signature Sessions in 2016 in order to give each client my full attention. I will still be offering several Simplicity Session events throughout the year, mainly for children only, to celebrate a holiday (such as Valentine’s Day), Mother’s Day, or holiday Winter/Santa photos. If you are interested in having your entire family photographed, this is very special and doesn’t happen that often, so I recommend the Signature Sessions for this.
